



iCan Swim is designed to help people achieve their aquatic goals and learn valuable water safety skills during the weeklong program. iCan Shine is a nonprofit organization that provides quality recreational programs for individuals with disabilities.


Swimmer and Volunteer Applications are Open!
As this swim camp is hosted by the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware, priority registration will be given to individuals with Down syndrome. Participants with other intellectual and developmental disabilities may register and will be placed on a waitlist. If space becomes available, spots will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and the selected time slot may not be guaranteed.
Northern New Castle County

August 10-14, 2026 @ Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club (310 Virginia Ave, Seaford, DE 19973, USA)
Swimmer Requirements (limited spots available):
- Must be at least 3 years old by start of camp and have a disability
- Preference given to individuals with Down syndrome as Down Syndrome Association of Delaware is hosting and sponsoring the program.
- Without a tracheostomy
- If G-tube stoma older than 2 months
- NOTE: Dropping-off swimmers at the program is not permitted. A parent, legal guardian, or other adult authorized to take responsibility for the swimmer (e.g. another parent) must remain on site for the duration of the 45-minute or 60-minute session each day of the program.
Volunteer Requirements:
- At least 15 years old (unless accompanied by an adult)
- Ideally able to attend each of the 5 days of camp. 45 minutes for the 3-7 year old session and 60 minutes for the other sessions (15 minutes of training/daily debriefing), Sunday orientation
- Able to provide physical, emotional and motivational support to assigned swimmer
- Must be able to swim and comfortable in the water
- Able and willing to get some exercise in the pool for a great cause!
Registration is $150 for Swimmers. Members of the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware may request a scholarship here.
