We invite you to join our Empowered IEP Program, a new community of parents of children with Down syndrome who are dedicated to supporting each other as they navigate the educational journey together. Through collaboration, shared experiences, and expert guidance, this community empowers each other to make informed decisions and ensure their children receive the personalized education they deserve. Membership for this cohort is free thanks to a grant from the Laffey-McHugh Foundation.

Parent Testimonials
I am truly grateful to be a part of this group of moms where we can discuss, collaborate, and exchange ideas regarding our children’s IEPs. It’s so valuable to support each other and provide helpful advice as we navigate similar challenges with our kids at school. I felt genuinely supported by our discussions, and it reinforced that I’m not alone on this journey.
This is such a wonderful group where parents can collaborate with one another on this journey, learn from each other, and support one another… Having a space for like-minded individuals, from so many wonderful backgrounds and with expertise in a variety of areas, strengthens us to make changes for our kids. I’m so grateful for this opportunity.
The Impact of Empowered IEP
Shared by Dr. Taryn Fletcher, our program facilitator
A few weeks ago, a parent came into our space carrying the kind of weight many of us know all too well.
Their child is bright, curious, and trying hard—but the conversations with school started to shift. Phrases like “can’t access,” “increased behaviors,” and “different placement” began to appear. Suddenly, decisions felt urgent. Overwhelming. And heavy.
What this family needed wasn’t pressure.
They needed clarity, language, and support.
Inside our community, we slowed things down. We read emails together. We translated school language. We asked better questions. We focused on needs before placement and on what it truly means to support a child in their learning environment—especially during a time when school systems, laws, and expectations are constantly changing.
Most importantly, this parent didn’t have to do it alone.
This is what our bi-weekly group is about.
It’s a space where:
✨ You can bring the email that made your stomach drop
✨ You can ask the question you’re afraid to ask at the IEP table
✨ You can learn from parents who’ve been there
✨ You can feel more confident, more informed, and more grounded in your advocacy
Whether you’re navigating an IEP right now, preparing for what’s ahead, or simply want to understand how to better support your child’s educational journey—this community is here.
Let this be the space where people get you.
Where you feel supported.
Where you learn the language of advocacy.
Where you feel empowered every step of the way.
If you’re looking for connection, clarity, and confidence—we are here and you are more than welcome to join us!
